This training examines the foundational principles of child protection law and provides an in-depth exploration and discussion surrounding each type of dependency court hearing.
By attending this training, participants will:
- Understand the function of the juvenile dependency court
- Acquire an overview of the purpose and procedures of each type of dependency court hearing, from the initial hearing through dismissal or permanent placement
- Understand the roles and responsibilities of the child welfare worker and all other parties in the court process
In addition, this training will examine relevant legislative updates and research on specific issues such as father engagement and supporting children and youth during reunification.
