While diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) is a recognized business priority for human services agencies in California, there's a gap in understanding how to translate these principles into actionable practices within the unique context of government workplaces. There is also a need to explore the elements of belonging and accessibility within the context of DEI further, which requires a change in many approaches. This 2-day module helps learners build a foundation for inclusion using the university’s Principles of Community lens, gaining the knowledge, tools, and resources to identify barriers and develop actionable strategies for creating and supporting an inclusive environment.
After attending this training, participants will be able to:
- Define and explain DEI principles as they apply to inclusive leadership
- Identify barriers to inclusive practices
- Develop strategies to address barriers
- Implement strategies to promote a culture of belonging
