Knowledge of growth and development permeates activities in child welfare. This workshop presents models of development that can be applied when working with parents and/or children involved with child welfare.
Topics include:
- Common theories of development
- Normal human growth
- Developmental delays
- Sexual development and behavior
- Moral development
- Physical and neurological growth
- Adolescent brain development and implications for practice
- Implications of trauma for development
Participants learn to recognize normal growth and development as well as concerns that require follow-up. The information presented will help parent partners adjust communication styles for the varying levels of development and assist parents in caring for their children
