Fostering Trauma-Informed Care in Child Welfare and Behavioral Health

Offered in partnership between the Northern Academy, the California Department of Social Services and the Chadwick Center for Children and Families, this training will provide participants with an opportunity to learn about, discuss, and promote the use of a trauma informed lens within their child welfare and behavioral health systems and throughout their communities. 

After attending this training, participants will be able to:

  • Define and discuss the various forms of trauma and the impact they have on children and families
  • Discuss at least two strategies organizations can utilize to recognize and respond to secondary traumatic stress
  • Demonstrate at least three benefits of a “cross-system” approach to working with clients who have experienced trauma

Participants who attend this training will be able to share new information, tools and strategies within their organizations to enhance their work with children and families that have been impacted by trauma.
