Fiscal Essentials for Child Welfare Supervisors

This course will provide participants with a practical understanding of Social Services finances and how to maximize funding while supervising a Social Services unit. The course builds understanding of the basics of Social Services funding, including providing guidance on managing ongoing operations, building budgets, and consideration of new initiatives and emerging opportunities—all with a focus on the role of a program supervisor.

• Understanding State and Local Budgeting
• Best practices for partnering with local fiscal teams - questions to ask, training and guidance for line staff, and forward planning.
• Opportunities for partnering with other departments, including Mental Health, Probation and the Department of Education
