As caregivers and families seek safety and connection during the COVID-19 pandemic, social workers must navigate safety, permanency, and well-being in a virtual platform. This learning circle is an opportunity to participate in a facilitated dialogue on strategies to engage children (ages 0-5) in visitation while social distancing, discuss challenges and strategies for managing virtual visits, and practice setting the tone and boundaries for parents, children, and caregivers in a visitation setting.
After attending this training, participants will have increased capacity to:
- Recognize the importance of attachment during a pandemic
- Understand the importance of setting the stage for successful visits
- Manage, support, and facilitate interactive virtual visits
- Assess for safety and well-being in a virtual setting
The learning circle will also explore best practices as agencies strategize on ways to support connections utilizing non-traditional approaches.
This is a virtual classroom training with a live instructor that requires communication and engagement at the same level as an in-person class. Use of a webcam is required.
