Course Overview
This workshop equips human services professionals with the knowledge and skills to recognize, prevent and respond effectively to charged or crisis situations. Participants will explore how trauma affects the brain and human behavior, gaining insight into the factors that contribute to escalated or challenging behaviors. Using a trauma-informed lens, the course introduces strategies for identifying individuals in crisis and applying evidence-based interventions to support safety, stabilization and de-escalation. Participants will also engage with practical tools, best practices and communication techniques that strengthen their ability to manage high-stress interactions with confidence and professionalism.
