Culture and the Care of Young Children - Part 2

“Culture and the Care of Young Children” focuses on the impact of culture in the lives of children, families and child care providers. This course emphasizes the role of child care providers in establishing daily routines and practices that support healthy development and help each child form a healthy cultural identity. Participants will gain increased competency in providing care that is consistent with a child’s home culture and in communicating with parents about cultural matters.

Topics include: 

  • developing awareness of personal cultural values and practices
  • ways to help children with sleeping, eating, and toileting
  • working together with parents on toilet learning
