Culturally Responsive Practice and Behaviors Tool Learning Collaborative

Empirical data regarding disproportionality and disparity consistently highlight a pressing need to ensure that child welfare professionals at all levels of their organization are making significant and systemic changes to promote culturally responsive practice, diversity, equity and inclusion. Such changes are imperative toward identifying and managing bias to reduce its impact on decisions that affect the outcomes of vulnerable children and families. The CRPB tool, developed in collaboration between California’s regional training academies and CDSS partners, seeks to define and promote behaviors and skills that anyone who is providing child welfare workforce development opportunities can demonstrate to indicate culturally responsive practice.

Child welfare leaders, instructors, and coaches are invited to this important learning collaborative to learn more about how to use the CRPB tool in your own work in a way that will ultimately improve your organization’s ability to engage and positively impact vulnerable children and families.

This learning collaborative is intended to:

  • Provide child welfare instructors, coaches, and leaders practice opportunities to dive more deeply into how to utilize the CRPB tool to its full potential
  • Co-create a safe space for child welfare professionals to talk authentically about where they are currently at in being culturally responsive in their everyday work
  • Discuss ways this tool can be used to help more child welfare leaders, instructors, and coaches to self-reflect on their culturally responsive practice
  • Develop next steps in moving this important work forward
