This e-learning course is designed to provide an overview to public contact staff—including first-line supervisors and administrators—with the requirements of the Civil Rights nondiscrimination compliance regulations as required by the California Department of Social Services (CDSS) Civil Right Unit, U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (USHHS) and other related state and regulatory agencies. Participants gain knowledge and insight into the service needs of various cultural, ethnic and special populations protected by civil rights legislation.
As a result of this e-learning session, participants will have a working knowledge of the state and federally funded Civil Rights implementation requirements.

- The worker role and requirements
- Requirements and methods for dissemination of civil rights information
- Bases of discrimination prohibited
- Accessibility to benefits, services and public facilities as related to federal and state regulations
- Provisions for services to non-English-speaking and disabled applicants and recipients
- Actions to take regarding complaints of discriminatory treatment
- Documentation requirements—identifying, coding and maintaining all program case files
