Course Overview

This course empowers county welfare staff with the knowledge and tools to uphold Civil Rights in everyday service delivery. Anchored in California Department of Social Services (CDSS) policy and Division 21 requirements, the training covers the legal foundations of Civil Rights, protected classes and strategies for recognizing and responding to potential violations.

Through real-world scenarios, interactive discussions and optional technology-enhanced activities, participants will learn the importance of equitable treatment, client dignity and procedural compliance. Whether working directly with clients or supporting operations, staff will gain a deeper understanding of their role in safeguarding access and fostering public trust.
