Hosted in partnership with the California Department of Social Services Integrated Services unit, the Northern Academy team is excited to host this day-long, in-person Child and Family Team (CFT) and Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS) regional convening. This fun, engaging event will celebrate the progress made by counties and system of care partners in implementing assessment and teaming with children, youth, and families over the past several years.

Child welfare, behavioral health, juvenile probation, parent and youth partners, and contracted providers are encouraged to attend this event as county teams.

Networking opportunities with peers
This event will include coffee, pastries and a catered lunch with opportunities to network and connect with CFT and CANS practice champions.
Implementation Insights
Hear updates from CDSS about the progress made in CANS and CFT practice and new supports and tools available statewide.
Live demonstration of a hybrid, CANS informed CFT Meeting
Parent and youth partner instructors will play key roles in a CFT meeting demonstration that includes use of innovative hybrid meeting technology.
County Innovations Panel
Learn about successful models and strategies that counties have developed for integrated teaming and assessment programs such as Shasta County’s unique CFT program that utilizes Peer Support Specialists for effective family engagement before, during and after the meeting.
Live Technical Assistance (TA)
County teams will be guided through a review, reflect and plan TA session that will help you determine your next steps to carry the knowledge and inspiration gained during the day forward.
