Day 1: Acing the Interview

In part one of this series, participants will learn skills that are essential in acing interviews and answering questions that allow hiring managers to see that you are the person for the job and get where you want to be in your career. The goal of this course is to assist learners in improving their skills in interviewing and planning a career path that maximizes their skill sets and allows for them to pursue a meaningful career.

Learning Objectives:

  • Effectively identifying and expressing what skills and abilities are needed to excel at the position
  • Preparation techniques to help to be successful on the day of the interview
  •  The STAR method designed to answer questions how hiring managers want to hear them answered
  • The art of storytelling to help managers better remember who you are and what you’re capable of doing
  • Asking questions, verbal and non-verbal best practices, what to do after the interview, and other items that regularly go missed, but can make the difference in why the manager chooses you

Day 2: Getting to Where You See Yourself

In session 2, participants explore that making a career decision comes down to three important questions: What do I want to do? Is it possible? What is driving my career development? This session will help learners to explore their career opportunities to become who they want to be. The goal of this course is to assist learners in improving their skills in interviewing and planning a career path that maximizes their skill sets and allows for them to pursue a meaningful career.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identifying your short and long-term career goals
  • Creating and implementing an action plan that details your action steps
  • Reviewing your progress regularly, individually and with your supervisor/manager
  • Evaluate the results of the completed plan

Day 3: Putting It all Together

Session three will allow each learner a chance to demonstrate what they have learned and to help other learners sharpen their interviewing skills through skills lab and instant feedback on their progress. The goal of this course is to assist learners in improving their skills in interviewing and planning a career path that maximizes their skill sets and allows for them to pursue a meaningful career.
