CANS Support for Supervisors and Leadership

This one-day workshop provides a framework for supervisors to support use of the Child and Adolescent Needs and Strengths (CANS) in child welfare social work and children’s behavioral health practice within the Integrated Core Practice Model (ICPM). We’ll address important considerations regarding the social worker or clinician’s level of development and integrating CANS information in child and family team (CFT) meetings and in working with children, youth and families. Hands-on activities will be used to illustrate supervision strategies along the ICPM phases of practice, teaming and coordinating care. Time will be provided for peer consultation and small group discussion of relevant issues that arise in supervising with the CANS.
