Bridging the Gap: Placing Agencies and Foster Care Eligibility

This half-day training is designed to assist with connecting foster care placement staff with foster care eligibility staff to ensure children in foster care have access to healthcare and caregivers receive funding in a timely and accurate manner. The class will cover the roles of placement staff and foster care eligibility staff, communication and collaboration barriers, and tools and strategies for developing proactive county processes for timely and accurate foster care eligibility determinations.

After attending this training, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the circumstances that can delay or jeopardize eligibility for foster care funding.
  • Apply strategies that will improve the timeliness and accuracy of foster care eligibility determinations.
  • Appreciate the importance of immediate health care access for foster children and funding for caregivers using the most appropriate funding source.
