Blending the Roles of Supervision through Safety Organized Practice

Quality supervision involves being able to balance administrative, educational and supportive roles as a supervisor. The secret sauce to success is utilizing supervision strategies that blend and interweave these three supervisory roles, resulting in a balanced approach to supervision that supports job satisfaction, morale, and the well-being of staff.  This approach also creates a parallel process through role modeling for social workers how to effectively blend their roles of addressing worries with families in a supportive manner. 

In this special supervisory learning collaborative, participants will learn ways to utilize Safety Organized Practice tools and strategies within supervision to:

  • Utilize the Three Questions as a strategy to balance the roles of supervision
  • Collaboratively identify and address worries
  • Leverage strengths and successes to increase motivation
  • Utilize Solution Focused Questions to support critical thinking
  • Create collaborative behaviorally based Performance Development Action Plans
