This interactive session invites human services professionals to journey beyond borders—both literal and metaphorical—to deepen their practice of cultural humility in service to immigrant communities. Participants will examine the historical and contemporary forces shaping migration and immigrant experiences in California.
Through guided reflection and dialogue, attendees will explore how immigration policy intersects with equity in public service delivery and consider practical strategies for fostering inclusive, empathetic and culturally responsive support systems. The session emphasizes self-awareness, lifelong learning and respectful engagement as core components of culturally grounded service.
