This two-day advanced leadership program helps human services professionals exercise more effective leadership in their critical change-making work. Rather than looking at leadership as one’s formal position or level of authority, we define leadership as an activity that anyone can practice to make progress on the big challenges facing human service agencies. In that spirit, we’ll present a set of tools and practices to help participants more effectively catalyze change in the systems where they work, while minimizing the risks of getting sidelined in the process. The workshop is primarily based on the adaptive leadership framework first developed at the Harvard Kennedy School that is now being advanced by a growing network of practitioners and educators around the world.
Upon completion of this workshop, participants will be able to:
- pursue a plan to address a personal leadership challenge that they have identified during the training
- deepen their experimental mindset to make progress on difficult adaptive challenges
- confront forms of resistance that they will face in trying to bring about progress
- increase their resiliency and ability to sustain themselves in the work of leadership for as long as possible
