"Building a Bridge Between Crisis and Calm: The Mindfulness Formula"

We all traverse life crises and challenges in varied ways—depending on our unique histories, genetics, stress tolerance and numerous other factors. There are, however, certain predictable stress responses for all humans that are based in the evolution of our human nervous system. More now than ever, we understand how our bodies respond to traumatic stress. The good news is that there are research-backed  strategies that work to calm our stressed nervous systems.  During this interactive presentation, Dr. Cohen will provide insights from her book, Workaches: The Neuroscience Guide to Surviving and Thriving at Work, that focuses on the specific issues human services professionals endure, including and beyond trauma, secondary trauma and burnout.

Mindfulness is a multifaceted and adaptive strategy to counterbalance stress and promote resilience. The Mindfulness Formula offers an updated understanding of these practices.

Topics include:

  • Chronic stress and trauma: costs to our nervous system
  • Locus of control and realistic expectations
  • Personalizing your mindfulness formula
  • Identifying your personal wellness zone
  • Participating in an experiential mindfulness exercise
