Fiscal Academy

The Fiscal Academy offers training opportunities for county fiscal and program representatives, group home staff and child welfare agencies from all interested counties in California. Trainings include:

  • Two-day training sessions held in various locations across the state
  • Annual Fiscal Forum on a topic of pressing or collaborative concern and often featuring state and nationally known speakers and/or county administrators
  • Informal training sessions or overviews on policy topics for state and county stakeholders
  • Interactive modules for county-level staff working in child welfare

The Fiscal Academy trainings offer “how-to” information on outcomes-based interagency financing strategies that are already being implemented in other parts of the state, particularly around the area of community services networks, CWS intake structure, the California Comprehensive Safety Assessment System, team-based case planning for family restoration and youth transition and The IV-E Waiver. Interactive modules train county staff on critical issues concerned with foster care eligibility, legal issues and the KinGAP foster care program.
