Power of Mindfulness in Social Services (Virtual Training)
Often as a result of chronic exposure to human suffering, social service professionals have a higher incidence of traumatic stress compared to the general population. With the increased uncertainty associated with the COVID-19 pandemic and additional stressors throughout these turbulent times, self-care is ever more vital to the health and well-being of social services professionals. One powerful tool for managing traumatic stress and enhancing health and well-being is the practice of mindfulness.
Utilizing interactive discussions and experiential exercises, this one-day training explores and offers participants a chance to practice mindfulness. Defined as present-centered awareness and focused attention, mindfulness creates improved cognitive flexibility, alertness, focus, attention, compassion, empathy and emotional balance. Additionally, workplace research is demonstrating that mindfulness significantly increases employee engagement, satisfaction and team effectiveness.
