Services overview

"Training," "staff development," "organizational development"—use of these terms in the human services field is evolving. "Training" continues to include induction classes, regulatory updates and skill building workshops. "Staff development" in many agencies means brokering on-site training, including degree programs. "Organizational development" makes learning specialists and organizational behavior practitioners partners with agency management in change, performance improvement and other unit, department or organization-wide efforts.

This section describes training to support staff who provide training and organizational development services.

Audiences

The courses in this section can support any group involved in training and organizational development. This includes trainers, internal consultants, analysts, supervisors and managers. Training can involve participants from a single organization or multiple organizations in a county or region.

Customization

Courses that follow can be delivered as described or adjusted to meet the needs of training participants and sponsoring agencies. Customization takes into consideration: " experience levels and program backgrounds of trainees " training objectives " performance gaps training should address " whether or not training is mandated " agency circumstances and practices related to the topic Course topics and activities are adjusted to tailor training to the agency and audience. If your organization has a training need not addressed on this site, The Center can develop a new course or training program.

Transfer of learning

Center training incorporates content and delivery methods that facilitate transfer of learning from the training room to the job. Center staff also can work with agencies on training overviews for supervisors and managers as well as other pre- and post-training activities that promote transfer of learning.
